Acoustic punk stalwarts Elliot Lozier (of We the Heathens and Atrocity Solution) and Taylor Dittman (Broken Bow, Hermit Stew) culled Doom Scroll’s lineup from a circle of friends with similarly high-profile, long term projects. They’re joined by Chatterbox and the Latter Day Satanist’s singer-songwriter Micah Butler, Jon Pizarro of the black metal/folk project Dead Work and Marissa Sendejas, who has pursued a longtime solo career when not making music as a member of CLDS, Chad Hates George or Days N Daze.

During the quarantine’s touring hiatus, these road warriors Voltron-ed from afar for a colossal debut album, Immoral Compass. The band describes its sound as “aggressive, melodic punk/crust wave” with complex instrumentation and layers of harmonies knitted from decades of music appreciation and performance.

On a hot July day a container car de-railed and plunged into the James River in Richmond, VA. Scientist later discovered the car contained the imprisoned remains of a horrible secret government science experiment gone wrong. It was supposed to go the Navy base to be destroyed, but the alignment of the planets at that particular time combined with the cosmic dust from a nearby asteroid's fart created a group of meek middle aged human geeks intent on playing ska. To learn the earth-person's characteristics, the band performed a Suicide Machines tribute set at the last Punks For Presents show in 2025 at Gallery 5. Since then, The Guillotones have molted through the pupal phase, metamorphosing into a for sure human ska band that hops between hardcore influenced political tunes and slower first-wave influenced jams.
