Scuffletown and Matty Metcalfe have been shaking stages from Nashville to Dublin for longer than they care to admit. Their swampy, high-energy brand of Americana is tinged with influences from delta blues to modern alt-country (with just a touch of jazz, swing, zydeco and bluegrass thrown in for good measure), and their combination of acoustic and steel guitars, harmonica, flute and accordion rocks familiar songs as well as their acclaimed originals. Always a good time with the ScuffleBoys!

“A dash of country twang and just enough rock and roll bite,” said RollingStone of Virginia songwriter-performer Sarah White ’s 2018 High Flyer album. It’s hard to say exactly what her music “sounds like,” but it’s clear that White is the real deal, erasing boundaries between indie rock, post-punk, country, and folk influences with her introspective lyrics and delicately crafted arrangements. A chameleon-like performer with ever changing line-ups over the past decade, White has grown into a songwriter with a sizable body of poignant, catchy, and moving songs. “Absorbing stuff,” says Americana UK, of her 2022 cover of Mike Nesmith's “Different Drum.” Check it out.

White grew up on a Christmas tree farm in West Virginia with hippie parents who exposed her to a wide world of music including bluegrass, country, ’60s folk and ’70s rock music, and lots of time, space, and creative freedom. Early albums on the Jagjaguwar label post-University of Virginia (Go Hoos!) speak to this variety of influences; subsequent years saw her open for acts like Hall & Oates, Justin Townes Earle and Merle Haggard, and take a ride on the Dave Matthews Band Caravan. Deemed “a diamond in the rough” in the lo-fi era, White has ascended to the top of her own style, delivering magnetic sincerity with a distinct and powerful voice.

Mirabelle Metcalfe is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter known for her evocative storytelling and intimate sound. You may recognize her from past theater performances or from her nearly three-year musical partnership with her father, Matty Metcalfe, performing at wineries across Virginia. Influenced by artists like Elliott Smith and Lizzy McAlpine, Mirabelle pairs descriptive, intentional diction with lulling melodies and cutting lyrics, creating a sound that is both tender and striking.
