Ben Weisiger is a trombonist, composer, and educator based in Jersey City, New Jersey. Originally from Richmond, Virginia Ben started playing the trombone in his public school band program. During that time he also studied privately with Richmond trombonists, Reggie Pace and Bryan Hooten. In 2012, Ben received a scholarship to the Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts to study with the legendary trombonist, Conrad Herwig. As a performer, Ben has played around the New York/New Jersey area in a variety of settings, but feels most at home playing jazz. Some notable venues and festivals he has performed at include the Blue Note, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Outside Lands, and Sasquatch Music Festival. Ben has toured extensively as a musician. Between a year and a half stint performing on cruise ships and 10 months with the indie rock outfit, Bon Iver, he has visited a number of unique countries and played for countless audiences. He has also toured with the New York Youth Symphony Jazz band on its first international trip to Brazil. Ben maintains an active schedule as a band leader, sideman, composer, arranger, and private lesson instructor.
