Dennis Elliott Music
Dennis Elliott was born in Deridder, Louisiana in 1962, and raised in Alexandria,
Louisiana. He started playing violin and guitar at the age of ten and was introduced to the
banjo and to bluegrass music at the age of 13. Other than a few violin lessons at school,
Dennis taught himself to play fiddle, banjo, guitar and mandolin. His parents recognized
his exceptional talent and began taking Dennis and his sister to bluegrass festivals
throughout Louisiana and Texas. They formed a family bluegrass band called “Homespun
Grass” which provided Dennis with a venue to play with other musicians and assimilate a
broad spectrum of music and musical styles.
By the age of 19, Dennis had already won four State Championship Titles in fiddle and
Dennis has a degree in Jazz Violin from Loyola New Orleans, has won three Virginia State
Fiddle Championships, a National Bluegrass Fiddle Championship, three Virginia State
Mandolin Championships, and two Virginia State Banjo Championships.
