Molly Payne and the Mistakes
Molly Payne and the Mistakes
Molly Payne and the Mistakes is a collaboration of Richmond musicians engaged in various pursuits, but all of whom appreciate blue blooded American country classics. The group plays favorites from Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, The Judds, and other country legends, as well as hits from more modern Americana artists like Gillian Welch, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, and Margo Price.

Stephen Kuester plays his soulful pedal steel guitar with Jackass Flats, Old Dominion Playboys, and the Red Light Rodeo All-Stars. His brother, bassist Matt Kuester, tours internationally with Daniel Romano. Molly and Kevin are thrilled to have Tara Dillard of The Folly's tender fiddle adding emotional depth to their songs, and Matt Coyle of Buttertub's steady, sensitive rhythms keeping time.

Founding members Molly Payne and Kevin Culbert perform as a duo when not enjoying the fuller sound of the big band. You can catch them every Wednesday with the Come Hears at Cary St. Cafe, the hippie bar that has become their Cheers and home away from home.
