Jouwala Collective
Jouwala Collective
United in the heart of Richmond Virginia, Jouwala Collective blends Gnawa Music, traditional African and spiritual songs characterized by trance inducing chants and rhythms, with modern influences of Funk, Jam, Jazz, Rock, Soul, Reggae, Dub, Blues, Latin,
Chaabi and Electronic. “Erie Synth notes create a soft background over which are laid tribal tones of instruments from a world away (Ismail's Gimbri, Gabe's Loutar and Kevin's tablas) resulting in an
atmosphere of spiritual healing. Incredibly fast, dynamic Drum rhythms keep your feet moving while the overall sound holds you in a dreamlike trance.
Electric guitars and Rock themes enter weave so that the mood, and the room, can be tranceformed immediately and without warning. In their short time together, Jouwala Collective has performed with internationally celebrated Drummie Zeb, founding member of Bob Marley’s Wailers, Jeff Franca of Theivery
Corporation and successfully opened for People's blues of Richmond, Turkuaz and the Mantras. They have aired on Radio Mogador, WRIR Richmond, and Radio Rubber Room, as well as being featured in RVA Magazine. The group draws inspiration and musical influence from Hmida Boussou, Fela Kuti, Medeski
Martin & Wood, Snarky Puppy, and Miles Davis to name a few. The band is at home at any venue from festival stage, to packed music house to seated concert halls. They have even showcased their music at International Embassies. The band is currently hard at work recording their debut album which they hope to release in late 2016. In the meantime, and as always, the guys are busy writing new material, performing and finding new ways to incorporate traditional music in fresh and exciting ways.
Squaring The Circle
Squaring The Circle
Founded by seasoned members of the Baltimore music scene, Squaring The Circle's prog-funk sound has set out to breathe new life into classic funk and jazz along with writing original material that pushes the boundaries and brings these genres into a contemporary light.

Carl Dougherty (Freedom Enterprise), Dan Kutcher (Lake Trout), Tyler Facinoli (Sol Frequency), and Nathan Shulkin (Sol Frequency) started this journey in December 2014 by immediately finding challenging music and creating definitive medleys featuring some of their favorite tunes. As they grew more comfortable with each others musical voice, the band began to introduce original material that has been turning heads and creating a huge buzz ever since.
